Biography

Raymond Morris Litton (July 8, 1931 - April 12, 2014) served two terms as mayor of Round Rock, Texas from 1973 to 1978. Before that, he was a professional baseball player.

Early life and baseball career

Litton was a graduate of Allen Military Academy in Bryan, Texas. He pitched in minor league baseball from 1953 to 1955. His statistics for 1953 are incomplete, though it is known he played in 21 games for the Gainesville Owls and Plainview Ponies. In 1954, he posted a win-loss record of 3-11 with a 5.19 ERA in 28 games (15 starts) for the Austin Pioneers and Harlingen Capitals. He walked 113 batters in 118 innings. In 1955, he was 0-0 in 8 games for Austin.

He died in Texas.

Political career

Litton served as a Rock Rock City Councilman from 1970 to 1972 and as Round Rock Mayor from 1973 to 1978. He served on the council that hired the city's first manager. In 1974, he was chosen Citizen of the Year by Round Rock's Chamber of Commerce. He also served as City Manager of numerous Texas cities, including Cedar Park, Junction, Jonestown and Overton. He was also named Citizen of the Year while City Manager of Cedar Park.
