Biography

Ravi Nitesh (born 16 August 1981) is an Indian social worker, peace campaigner, Youth leader and petroleum Engineer. His articles and opinion pieces on peace and conflict, human rights, development and Governance appeared regularly in many newspapers and portals including Rising Kashmir, DNA, Counter Currents, Oxford Human Rights Hub, Nepal Times, Bangladesh Chronicle, Outlook Afghanistan and in Daily Times- Pakistan. He is the founder of Aaghaz-e-Dosti (A cross border initiative for Indo-Pak friendship), initiative of Mission Bhartiyam NGO that is registered under SRA,1860 and working in the fields of Environment, Human Rights, Peace & Harmony.

Early life and education

Ravi Nitesh born District Basti, Uttar Pradesh, India on 16 August 1981. He completed his graduated in B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. He earned his master's degree with M.Tech in Gas Engineering and PG Diploma in Human Rights. He received competitive scholarships and has been in student parliament during schooling and also got awarded for being among top students of districts during higher secondary and intermediate. He also found interest in writing poems and letters along with his college studies and participated as an invited young poet in few Kavi Sammelans held in district including the one dedicated to martyrs of Kargil war. He has been a student leader during his engineering education and became a key member in campaign team of university elections. He also participated in student-youth movements during college days. As a youth leader, he lead a relief rally in Lucknow to help Tsunami Victims. During his masters in Dehradun, he remained in touch with socio-political subjects of the country and with the keen interest in social leadership he founded a social organization named Mission Bhartiyam in the year 2007. With the opportunities of migrating from country for research and better employment opportunities, he preferred staying in country to serve the people and started his job in a cross-country pipeline company. Later he moved to Delhi and presently living there with his present job. He also completed P. G. Diploma in Human Rights to understand more on human rights. His organization Mission Bhartiyam working in the field of peace and communal harmony, environment and on other areas of social concerns such as sanitation and development. His organisation has organised a silver jublie rally for U.P. Narcotics Department in Lucknow with the theme of Say No To Drugs.

Personal life

He belongs to District Basti, Uttar Pradesh, India and completed his schooling from Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Rambagh Basti.

Career

Ravi Nitesh has written several articles on issues of Peace, Human Rights and Envrionment at various newspapers/portals. He is a human right activist and a peace activist. Regular campaigning for Indo-Pak Peace.

Convention on REPEAL AFSPA

He has filled many appeals in National Human Rights Commission with motive of human rights protection. He has organised and coordinated various public demonstrations including Convention on Repeal AFSPA in 2015, Hunger Strike in 2015, Solidarity Visit to Imphal in 2014, Joint March Against AFSPA in 2014, Solidarity protest for Snowden in 2013, Ramban Firing Protest at New Delhi in 2013, Pathribal Protest at New Delhi in 2013, Save Sharmila Candle Vigil in 2011 and SriNagar-Imphal Save Sharmila Jan Carwan in 2011. He had been interviewed for Free Speech Radio - USA for Save Sharmila Campaign. He also worked on ground to bring voices of margilanised, particularly of victims of conflicts. He argues that it is not only soldiers who are victims of any boundary conflict and face loss of lives, but also common people who are residing near border areas and facing huge loss despite not taking part in any war. He has submitted the suggestion to Pakistan high commission and Union ministry of external affairs for Telecom partnership, money exchange counters would boost India-Pak ties. He travelled to Diu and met fishermen community to understand their sufferings. He is the first person who since the year 2014, started releasing the complete list of Indian fishermen and civilians who are in Pakistani jails and advocated for their safe and speedy release..

In 2019 he has organised "Aaghaz-e-Dosti Yatra – 2019" for peace between India and Pakistan.

Awards / Recognitions

He is also nominated as secretary of social organization South Asian Fraternity that had been patrons like former PM Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Former President Late Sh. Krishnakant, Former PM Late Sh I K Gujral and Former Rajyasabha Member and Veteran columnist Late Kuldip Nayar . He is editorial board of Nityanootan, a magazine established by Late Dr Nirmala Deshpande. He has been interviewed by many national and international media and his articles on human rights got place in Annual Human Rights Index of Oxford University Press.His blog on the topic ‘Rule by the people: How civil society makes democracy tick’ got awarded as first prize by American Centre, New Delhi.He has been invited to Imphal, Manipur as a special invitee along with Gwangju Laureates in a program held in solidarity with Manipuri rights activist Irom Sharmila.His organization has received many awards and recognitions. For his notable works in peacebuilding, he got invited as TEDx Speaker at prestigious Tata Institute of Social Studies (TISS), Mumbai.
