Biography
Raven Tao, Lady Allom is a Eurasian model, fashion designer, television host, actress and former radio DJ based in Hong Kong.
Tao's mother is Chinese-Nepalese and her father is English-Polish. She was raised in Hong Kong, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
Career
Tao gained attention with prolific work in Asia-wide modelling campaigns as a teenager.
She featured in widely distributed magazine and television commercial shoots, starring on the cover of Harpers Bazaar, Elle editorials, Sprite, The Laurel, Escada, Biore and Sunsilk campaigns.
Tao also starred in multinational Asian campaigns for Vidal Sassoon, Sprite, Kodak, Samsung, Honda, Chow Sang Sang, Citroën, Ferrero Rocher, Apex Beauty, Haier, Qui Mei, Claire TV, MW-Giorgio Fedon; signing repeat contracts for campaigns with Vidal Sassoon and Olay, and a semi-global advertising campaign for Olay Total Effects.
In 2004 Tao emceed for Rockit Music Festival, hosting the festival alongside Channel V VJ Dom Lau for Rockit 2005 and 2006. She next worked in Singapore as a DJ & producer at MediaCorp's Top 40 radio station 987fm, presenting television segments on AXN and HBO.
Tao became a host on Fox Movies Premium in Hong Kong, presented SPLASH Vol. 7,8,9 in Macau for Channel V International, hosted the internationally broadcast W Hotels 5th anniversary event in 2013, and the 2014 Star World series Tokyo Luxe
Raven Tao met director Yick- Sum Poonwhile working together on Wong Chi Wai’s music video 'Building Bridges, Fixing Roads' and starred in the avant-garde short film project about SARS, STILL, which aired at the Torino Film Festival. Yicksum Poon invited her to film with critically acclaimed movie director Ann Hui for a guest appearance in All About Love. Tao has a leading role in the 2012 movie Reunited in Malaysia, where she is dubbed over in German.
Tao studied law and was an ambassador for luxury realtors Engel & Voelkers HK. She is the founder and designer of Hong Kong's first luxury spiral steel boned corset brand Pearls & Arsenic and writes a luxury fashion and corsetry blog, Corsets & Couture
Charity
Raven Tao has worked with charitable causes including "Bullets For Beauty", which creates fashion objects and apparel using recycled military ammunition crafted by local artisans in war torn countries, empowerment programs like "Project Share" and "Liberty Asia", a charity devoted to prevention of human trafficking. Tao is the poster face and an interviewee of the 2017 documentary on women in media, The Beauty Machine.
