Radha Mohan Das Agarwal

Dr. Radha Mohan Das Agarwal is an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Agarwal is a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Gorakhpur Sadar (Vidhan Sabha constituency) Gorakhpur Urban constituency since 2002 in Gorakhpur district.

Before becoming a popular politician, Dr. Agarwal earned fame as a doctor. He was the leading child specialist of his time. Dr. Agarwal did his MBBS and MD from the Banaras Hindu University (BHU). It was during his college days, that he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and then later joined the student politics. Dr. Agarwal was elected president of Junior Doctors Association in 1974. Dr. Agarwal as temporary lecturer,contested for General Secretary post of BHU Teacher's association & cutting across dirty caste politics, he defeated senior most Thakur and Bhumihar professor Duo by getting more than 50% of polled votes. He was then chosen as General Secretary of Federation of central university teacher's unions by profession. Mr. Agarwal is Child Specialist (Pediatrics).

From 1981 to 1986, he was a professor in the medical college. After leaving Banaras (presently Varanasi), Agrawal came back to Gorakhpur and established his own practice.

He personally never believed in caste system prevailing around and married to a Nair girl from Kerala (who also happens to be his Nurse in the past). He has a single daughter family, his daughter is doing MD pediatric from Era Medical College, Lucknow (which is a renowned Private Medical College of Uttar Pradesh).

Coming back to Gorakhpur, Dr Agarwal was actively evolved in day-to-day activities of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) as friend, philosopher & guide. He took a big caravan of goods to Uttarkashi during an earthquake and later on he went to Gujarat during an earthquake there.During Flood in Kashmir, he with a team of doctors of all speciality & paramedics from Amma Institute of Medical Science Kochi, with blessings of Hugging Saint AMMA, went to terrorism inflicted Sri Nagar,Bandipora & Barramula etc. & did charity for 15 days.

Dr. Agarwal was, in spite of being a roaring child specialist, was enslaved in intellectual activities of RSS & even hold post of Vibhag Sanjoyak of various frontal organisations of RSS like Kashmir Bachao Manch, Swadeshi Jagran Manch and Pragya Prawah.

He has been elected as an MLA from Gorakhpur in 14th Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh in the 2002 from on ticket of Hindu Maha Sabha. In 15th (2007), 16th (2012) and 17th (2017) Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, he has been nomination from Bharatiya Janata Party and won the elections.

Dr. Agarwal is known for his parliamentary acumen & knowledge. He is most widely read member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly having in-depth knowledge of History, Economics, Political Science, Indian laws & Constitution, Linguistic & Culture, Spiritual Text, Budget Formation, Assembly Rules. He is a chosen speaker for training of new members of Assembly.

He is known for his successful struggle for All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Gorakhpur at all levels from road to assembly. He succeeded in giving AIIMS back to Gorakhpur. In 2012 when the then Congress Government at center under political pressure of Smt Sonia Gandhi took this away from Gorakhpur to Raebareli, he went high court against this decision. Court directed state/central government. During BJP rule at center, PM Narendra Modi removed the injustice to Gorakhpur by sanctioning another AIIMS in Gorakhpur

He is attracting the attention of people for his simplicity. Bharatiya Janata Party’s Dr. Radha Mohan Das Agrawal, a four-time legislator from Gorakhpur, is giving major simplicity goals to all the leaders across the nation. His popularity is such, that despite being a communally charged city, the people even from the minorities community respect and love him (where is the evidence / reference for this?). During his all last three assembly election from same Gorakhpur Sadar constituency he has been consistently increasing his vote share, winning in 2002 election by margin of 18000, 2007 election by a margin of 28000 & 2012 election by a grand margin of 48000. In 2017 election (17th Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly), Dr. Agarwal won by grand margin of 62000 votes. Dr. Agrawal was so confident of his huge victory margin , that he refused to have any public meeting , instead believing exclusively on home to home personal contact.

Dr. Agarwal is known for his 100% principled politics, not doing any wrong work for anybody including himself & neither giving nor accepting even single rupee from anyone in last 15 years.

It is widely believed that he is a simple man who moves around the city using his Maruti 800 , UP 53 AE 4800 . He moves around in Lucknow , including uttarpradesh vidhansabha , with his Activa Scooty UP 53 AE 9050

He has been involved in controversy of using harse language while talking to a female Gorakhpur IPS officer Charu Nigam, when IPS officer allegedly hit a 5 month pregnant lady , an 70 years old lady with lathi & throwing away a 8 year old kid on 7-May-2017 , when he earned the reputation of fighting for downtrodden section of society & going to any extent for injustice against ladies.
