Placide Mabengo Baveni Kalumbu, known as Placide Jr, (Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, October 1, 2007) is a Singer, songwriter, dancer, choreographer from DR Congo. He formed the N'dombolo musical band Bakolo Génération International. His debut album, “Sebene Connection”, was released on July 2, 2020.
Biography
Placide Mabengo was born on October 1, 2007 in Madrid. He is thesecond in a family of three children. His interest in music came at the age of 4, and he was inspired by Congolese music, precisely by N’Yoka Longo, from the group Zaïko Langa-Langa. Since 2012, Mabengo started performing songs he loved for his classmates, then his musical activities began after recording a bunch of vocal notes on his father's phone.In June 2016, he founded his first musical group of world varieties with his friends named Mens of the Music and later they released their first album "The Kids with Guns" and founded his label Soulparanos Music.
After two years of existence, the group disbanded due to inactivity. They are singing their last song "Rise and Shine" which will be released on September 8, 2018.From March 2019, the Mens of the Music orchestra stops playing.Between September 2018 and June 2019, he was preparing his first solo album called "Placide Jr", until the release of the single "Kinshasa-Brazza Mboka Moko" with GSM, and that was when he decided to abandon the project with his name, and proceed to register "Sebene Connection". Accompanied by his brother Juliano Munem, he publishes the promotional singles "Chiffre 6" and "Kitsaka Tsaka". He renames his label as Soulparanos International.
June, he confirms the release of his first studio album "Sebene Connection" on July 2, 2020, on CD, vinyl and digital platforms.He reissues his singles "Kitsaka Tsaka" and "Kinshasa-Brazza Mboka Moko".He publicly states that he will start planning a concert in Alcalá de Henares, where he grew up, precisely in the C.C.O.O. He also confirms that the name of his next album is "1 Rois2:3", which gets the name of his favorite biblical verse.
