Biography

Pir Budhan Shah (AD 1643), also called Baba Budhan Ali Shah, was a venerated Sufi pir who had religious discourse with Guru Nanak in Rawalpindi and later accepted Gurmat thought during times of Guru Har Gobind.

Renunciation

Buddan Shah, a Muhammden, belonged to a family of chieftains, but left everything to become a Sufi mystic. He lived near rawilpindi Guru Nanak met him during his travels.

He was very close to Bhai Bidhi Chand Chhina. His disciple Sunder Shah, died together with Bhai Bidhi Chand at Devnagar near Ayodhya.

Death

Budhan Shah lived up to the time of Sikh Guru Hargobind and died in 1643 and his Mausoleum is located on hilltop in Kiratpur Sahib about 200 meters to east of the ashram of Baba Gurditta and he is visited by both the Sikhs and Muslims of the region.
