Biography
Piet Makkes is a Dutch Paralympic swimmer from Den Hoorn. He represented the Netherlands at international competitions.
He won three gold medals at the 1968 Summer Paralympics. He won the gold medal in the 3x 50 m Medley Relay open event together with Cees Broekman (breaststroke) and John van der Starre (backstroke). Van der Starre swam in the relay the 50 m freestyle. He won individually gold medals in the 50 m Freestyle special class event and 50 m Backstroke special class event.
He was honored with medalists of the 1968 Paralympics, by minister Klompé in The Hague.
