Biography
Phil Slater is an Australian trumpeter and composer.
In 2019 he released the album The Dark Pattern. Playing with him on the album were Simon Barker (drums), Matt McMahon (piano), Matt Keegan (saxophone) and Brett Hirst (bass). The album saw him nominated for the 2019 ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album.
Slater has been a member of many bands including
- Phil Slater Quartet with McMahon (piano), Barker (drums) and Lloyd Swanton (bass)
- Band of Five Names with McMahon (piano) and Barker (drums).
- Daorum with Barker (drums), McMahon (piano), Carl Dewhurst (guitar), Bae Il Tong (vocals) and Kim Dong Won (percussion)
- Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra
