Biography
Paul Handforth is the son of Tony Handforth. He was born on 6 October 1981 in Wakefield, Yorkshire, England is a rugby league player for Keighley in the Championship 1.
Paul Handforth's position of choice is at Stand-off/Five-eighth, but he can also operate at Scrum-half/Halfback and as a Hooker. And he is regarded as one of the best half backs below the Super League.
He has previously played for Halifax, Batley, Doncaster, Wakefield Trinity and Castleford in the European Super League. He started playing rugby with Methley Monarchs as a schoolboy and also played for Oulton Raiders.
Paul Handforth is an Ireland international.
He was named in the Ireland training squad for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup.
Handforth became coach of his home village team, Methley Royals, in the build-up to the 2010/11 season.
He steered them to the Pennine League Division Three championship, and to the final of the Pennine League's Andrew Bennett Memorial Trophy, in which the Royals lost honourably to Division Two title-holders Thornhill Trojans, 34-30.
He is in charge of the team for the 2012/13 campaign, in which the side will operate in Division One.
