Biography

Patrick Range McDonald is an award-winning American journalist and author. He has won, among other honors, the Los Angeles Press Club "Journalist of the Year" award, the prestigious "Public Service" award from the Association of Alternative Newsmedia, and the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. He worked as a staff writer for LA Weekly for six years (2007-2013), and co-wrote former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan's memoir, "The Mayor: How I Turned Around Los Angeles after Riots, an Earthquake, and the OJ Simpson Murder Trial." The book was a New York Times and Los Angeles Times best-seller. McDonald has recently completed a three-year book project about Los Angeles-based AIDS Healthcare Foundation, the largest HIV/AIDS medical care provider in the world that works in more than 35 countries and serves over 600,000 patients. The book is titled, "Righteous Rebels: AIDS Healthcare Foundation's Crusade to Change the World."

McDonald holds a B.A. in history from Fordham University and an M.A. from New York University in journalism. He is currently pursuing other projects in TV, film, and magazine publishing.
