Biography

Ouidad Elma is a French-Moroccan actress. She was born in Rif Mountains, Morocco. She grew up in Paris in the neighborhood of Menilmontant. Imdb link

Elma was 6 before she took her first acting class. She joined in her youngest age a theatre company " Les enfants terribles" in Paris and became active professionally at the age of 16. She played her first character for the movie "Sa raison d'être" directed by Renaud Bertrand, just after she played a lead role in the French film "Plan B" directed by Kamel Saleh. She then moved to Morocco and pursued her acting career by playing lead roles in various films. She played in "Love The Medina", "Zero" directed by Noureddine Lakhmari and in "The Rif Lover ", L'Amante du Rif directed by Narjiss Nejjar. Elma has obtained nominations and awards for her films, notably at the Dubai international film festival, Festival International du Film Francophone de Namur and Marrakech International Film Festival in 2011 and 2012.

She succeeded in playing in the film "Red Tent" directed by Roger Young with the side of Rebecca Fergusson and Morena Baccarin. The following year, she worked on the film Killing Jesus directed by Christopher Menaul produced by Scott Free Productions and also in the series Tyrant for FX.Elma returned to Europe and played in the Belgian comedy in 2014 Madness, selected the following year in Namur and for which she won the prize of Best Actress at the 2015 Agadir Film Festival.

Elma played in La lisière (The Edge),the French anticipation film produced by Gravity Films, and directed by Simon Saulnier. Selected and awarded in numerous festivals around the world since its release in 2016, this French science fiction short film has had a great success.

In 2015, she played in the clip Skrillex with Said Tagmaoui directed by Nabil Elderkin.

In 2016, she signed with the Medi 1 TV channel to play the character of Amal alongside the actors Assaad Bouab and Moussa Masskri in the television series of "Ghoul" in thirty episodes, under the direction of director Jean Luc Herbulot. Later that year, Elma shot a French film, Tazzeka, which was directed by Jean-Philippe Guaud. The film has been Montreal World Film Festival 2017.

Elma has also recently finished shooting a BBC series "The Last Post" directed by Jonny Campbell and Miranda Bowen. The six episode series will be released in December 2017.
