Biography

Otto Naumann is an American art historian, dealer, collector, and scholar, particularly renowned as a specialist in Dutch and Flemish art.

He is a scholar of Frans van Mieris the Elder, writing the authoritative work, Frans van Mieris the Elder, 2 vols. (Davaco, 1981), and leading an exhibition on the artist at the Mauritshuis in 2005. After having made a name for himself specializing in Dutch and Flemish art, he expanded the breadth of his trade in 2007 to include Italian, French, Spanish, and British works as well as 19th-century painting.

In July 2018, he was appointed Sotheby's Senior Vice President and Client Development Director in its Old Master Paintings Division. Naumann previously sold a collection of Dutch and Flemish paintings at Sotheby’s in 2007.
