Orlando Metcalfe Poe

Orlando Metcalfe Poe (March 7, 1832 – October 2, 1895) was a United States Army officer and engineer in the American Civil War. He was a topographical engineer who rose to the rank of brevet brigadier general and received the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Battle of Ringgold Gap in Georgia.

During the American Civil War, Poe served as an engineer and was involved in a number of significant military campaigns. He was responsible for the construction of important defensive works, such as the fortifications at Island Number Ten and Fort Pillow in the Western Theater. He also played a key role in the Atlanta Campaign, where he helped build defenses for the Union Army and led the construction of a pontoon bridge across the Chattahoochee River.
