Biography

Noa Tohar Tishby (Hebrew: נועה טוהר תשבי‎; born May 22, 1975) is an Israeli actress, producer and singer.

Early life

Noa Tishby was born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel. She is from an Ashkenazi Jewish family (of Russian-Jewish, Polish-Jewish, and Austrian-Jewish descent). As an adult, Tishby was told by a Kabbalah Rabbi that she should have a middle name, subsequently Tishby has chosen one that means "purity" in Hebrew.

Tishby performed her mandatory two and-a-half years of military service in the Israel Defense Forces as a singer with a military performing group.

Career

Tishby received a drama scholarship to the Tel Aviv National Museum of Arts and went on to play the lead in the Israel's soap opera Ramat Aviv Gimmel. Tishby also appeared in Five Minutes Walking and the drama 2.3 Times a Week playing a singer called Ella. Her album Nona was the first English-speaking full album released by an Israeli artist. Nona was also released in Japan by Virgin Records.

In the United States, Tishby appeared in Michael Bay's The Island with Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. She also was cast in leading roles in the indie films Fatwa and Connecting Dots – the latter film winning first prize at the NY and LA Independent Film Festival. Tishby's television credits include NCIS, Leverage, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Nip/Tuck, The 4400, Las Vegas, and Star Trek: Enterprise.

Tishby's recent projects are The Ghost of Girlfriends Past for Warner Brothers opposite Matthew McConaughey, as well as recurring roles on HBO's Big Love and ABC's The Deep End.

As producer

Tishby served as co-executive producer of the HBO series In Treatment (2008–10) alongside Mark Wahlberg and others. Ultimately, by selling the show, Tishby created a previously non-existent connection between Israeli entertainment content and the US entertainment market.

In 2008, Tishby’s production company,"Noa’s Arc", signed deals on three potential television projects, none of which went into US production, based on existing Israeli series: Screenz and A Touch Away with HBO and a comedy with MTV.

Politics

Tishby is a member of AIPAC (the American Israel Public Affairs Committee) and has traveled to Washington, D.C. to lobby on Capitol Hill. She is also a member of The Israeli Consulate Speakers Bureau and the ILC (Israeli Leadership Council). She is also part of Summit Series, an organization for young entrepreneurs, as well as a member of, and is a mentor for, Women In Film.

Following the 2010 MV Mavi Marmara, Tishby took to Twitter to defend Israel's actions. She is co-Founder of the digital activism group Act For Israel.

Personal life

Tishby was married to Australian media personality, Andrew Günsberg. In December 27, 2011, Gunsberg and Tishby told their Twitter followers that their marriage was over.

In November 2015, she and American businessman Ross Hinkle welcomed the birth of the first child for both, a son named Ari Ford Tishby Hinkle.
