Nir Eyal is an Israeli-American author, educator, and entrepreneur. In addition to his personal blog, NirAndFar.com, he is a frequent contributing writer for Forbes, TechCrunch, and Psychology Today – writing about the intersection of psychology, technology, and business. Nir frequently writes about how technology shapes user behavior by creating new habits.
Personal life
Nir Eyal's book Hooked: How to Build Habit-Forming Products was published by Portfolio on November 4, 2014 and debuted on the Wall Street Journal business bestseller list. Hooked made several "best of" lists including being named one of the best business books of the year by Goodreads and the best marketing book of the year by 1800CEOREAD. The book highlights an equation, Behavior equals Motivation times Ability times Trigger, which is the basis for creating an addicting web application.
Nir is an Israeli-born American now residing in Silicon Valley, California. Nir co-founded two start-ups. The first, Sunshine Business Development was acquired in 2007. The second, AdNectar, received venture funding from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and was acquired in 2011.
Nir holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA from Emory University.
