Biography
Niladri Paul (born 26 November 1964) is an Indian artist based in New Delhi. He has been awarded the Senior Fellowship by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Early life
Niladri Paul was born in the steel town Jamshedpur, India on 26 November 1964. He went to a local school. Having lost his mother at an early age, he moved to Kolkata. Niladri Paul began exhibiting and selling his work in the late 1980s following his graduation from Government College of Arts and Craft, Kolkata, 1986, where he received a Bachelor of fine arts degree.
Career
He has had several solo shows in India and abroad, with the most recent one titled Inamorata at the Jehangir Art Gallery,Mumbai. Niladri Paul has succeeded in evolving a signature style of painting that bridges the gap between figurative and abstract art. Niladri is also known for his watercolors, mixed media sculptures, and even fashion designing. Niladri also pioneered the alternative therapy of color healing via art, by infusing his paintings with specific colors and forms.
