Biography
Nick Hardwick (born 19 July 1957) Was appointed Chair of the Parole Board for England and Wales in March 2016, prior to this he was Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Prisons. He was appointed to that role in July 2010, replacing Anne Owers.
Prior to this he was the Chair of the Independent Police Complaints Commission, a British organisation which claims to make sure that complaints against the police are dealt with effectively. He was appointed in December 2002.
From June 1995 to January 2003 he was Chief Executive of the Refugee Council. From 1986 to 1995 he was Chief Executive of the charity Centrepoint. Born in Surrey, he currently lives in south London. He has a wife and two children. In 1979 he graduated from the University of Hull with a third class honours degree in English.
He was educated at Epsom College and the University of Hull (BA English Literature, 1979).
