Nadezda "Nadia" Golubeva is a Russian cellist.
Early life
Golubeva was born in Kostroma, Soviet Union. One of five children, she wanted to become a gymnast, but was unable to fit in into the Soviet gymnastics structure. She started playing music when she was eight years old. At first, she wanted to play guitar, but her goal was always to play violin. When she went to the music school she decided to play cello because it is bigger and more powerful instrument, along with piano. When she turned 16, Golubeva joined Saint Petersburg Conservatory and by 1994 she graduated from it. While still enrolled into the conservatory, she was accepted into the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and after the third year at the conservatory she joined Mariinsky Theatre.
Career
Soon after graduation, Golubeva, her husband and two children emigrated to Lima, Peru, where she became director of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Peru. After living in Peru for some time, she was offered a position with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Yucatán in Mérida, Yucatán. In 2014, she was offered a substitution position at the International String Quartet of Yucatan. Eventually, this position became permanent for her. She also performs with the Chamber Orchestra of UADY and Orchestra of the City of Mérida. In 2017, she played at the Hacienda Santa Cruz Palomeque.
