Musashimaru Kōyō

Musashimaru Kōyō is a former sumo wrestler from Hawaii. He achieved the second highest rank in sumo, yokozuna, and had a successful career in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Musashimaru Kōyō's birth name is Fiamalu Penitani. He was born on October 7, 1970, in Fagatogo, American Samoa.

Musashimaru Kōyō had a successful sumo career, winning multiple championships. He won three top division tournament championships, also known as yūshō, in 1994, 1996, and 1999. He also achieved the highest rank of yokozuna in 1999, making him the first non-Japanese wrestler to reach that rank since 1969.

Musashimaru Kōyō is known for his impressive size and strength. He stood at 6 feet 4 inches (193 cm) tall and weighed around 500 pounds (227 kg) during his sumo career.

Musashimaru Kōyō retired from sumo in 2003 due to several injuries. He had persistent problems with his knees, which required surgery. These injuries and the subsequent rehabilitation made it difficult for him to continue competing at the highest level, leading to his retirement from professional sumo.
