Biography
宮城新昌（みやぎ しんしょう、1884年5月14日 - 1967年8月15日）は沖縄県出身の水産事業家。日米でカキの養殖法の開発と普及に貢献し「日本の牡蛎王」の異名をとった人物。
略歴
沖縄県国頭郡大宜味村の出身。国頭農学校卒。 渡米してカキの養殖をまなび、カナダで水産会社をおこす。帰国後の1923年、垂下式蠣養殖法を考案し、宮城県石巻市で実用化に成功。種ガキの生産と技術者の養成につくした。1967年、死去。没年83歳。
