Mildred Baena

Mildred Patricia Baena (born March 1, 1961,) is a former housekeeper of American bodybuilder, actor, politician Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Baena was born Mildred Patricia Baena on March 1, 1961, in Guatemala. She also goes by her nickname, Patty. 

Baena worked for Schwarzenegger as his assistant and housekeeper for more than 20 years, voluntarily retiring in January 2011. She came to the spotlight a few months later, on May 16, 2011, when the Los Angeles Times revealed that Schwarzenegger and Baena had a love child, Joseph Baena in 1997. Schwarzenegger had been married to former TV journalist Maria Shriver (niece of the late President John F. Kennedy and fourth cousin of tennis player Pam Shriver), since 1986. Following the news, Schwarzenegger, in May 2011, publicly admitted of fathering a child with Baena. 

"After leaving the governor's office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago," Schwarzenegger said. "I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry." 

He confessed to Shriver after she confronted him with the information, having earlier confirmed it in a confrontation with Baena. Citing "irreconcilable differences," Shriver filed for divorce on July 1, 2011.

Baena never told Schwarzenegger that he was the father of Joseph until she realized the truth once her son started to resemble him. Baena, who bought a new four-bedroom house with a pool about two hours north of Los Angeles in 2010, had filed for divorce from her husband in February 2008, court records show.

According to Baena, Shriver also began suspecting when she noticed the resemblance between her husband and Joseph as he grew older.

Baena, Joseph, and Schwarzenegger –– all attended Joseph's graduation ceremony from Pepperdine University, in April 2019.

Currently, Baena lives with her son Joseph, daughter Jacqueline Rozo, and two other children in Bakersfield, California, about an hour north of Los Angeles.
