Biography
Michael Dickes (born 27 April 1967) is an American folk and rock musician. In his works, he uses elements from the blues, folk, and rock music. He also goes by "Mike Dickesc".
In 1986, Dickies co-founded a progressive rock band named Gypsy Kyss in Chelan, Washington. Dickes was the guitarist and vocalist with Pat Edward Oscarson on bass and Michael Scott Seaman on drums. In 1990, the group released an 11-track album When Passion Murdered Innocence. In 1991, they released Songs From A Swirling Ocean and in 1992, Groovy Soup.
Gypsy Kyss disbanded in 1992, after when Dickies embarked on a solo career. In 2008, he contributed the track "Devil's Arcade" (originally by Bruce Springsteen) to the soundtrack for director Mark Pellington's comedy/drama Henry Poole Is Here,starring Luke Wilson, Radha Mitchell, George Lopez, and Adriana Barraza.
Trivia
- Besides being a musician, Dickes is also a painter and artist.
- At one point, Dickies spent several months living at a Japanese Zen monastery.
