Biography
Meriem Bennani is a Moroccan female artist. Bennani was born in the year 1988, in Rabat, Morocco. She now lives in New York, New York. Meriem is known for creating films, video installations, drawings, and animations.
Education
Meriem Bennani earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (BFA) at The Cooper Union (University & College) in New York, New York.
Later on, deciding to continue her study in Fine Arts, she received her Master of Fine Arts degree (MFA) at École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Frace.
Work
Bennati is represented by Signal Art Gallery in Brooklyn, New York. She has worked a solo show at Signal Art Gallery, and has showcased her work at the Jewish Museum, "Unorthodox" exhibition. Other galleries her work has been exhibited in are; Saatchi Gallery in London, England; Palais de Tokyo in Paris, France; and in MoMA PS1 in Long Island City, New York.
In interviews, she mentions how she gets mainly inspired by her homeland, because she is around family and friends, and in different surroundings.
Meriem Bennani started a project, which included Hijabs, named FUNJABS. In this project, she makes Hijabs fashionable, beautiful, and "fun," with many designs.
