Matthijs de Ligt (born 12 August 1999) is a Dutch professional football player who plays for AFC Ajax in the Dutch Eredivisie and for Jong Ajax in the Jupiler League as a defender.
Club career
De Ligt is a youth exponent from AFC Ajax, having joined the academy when he was 9 years old. He made his professional debut at Jong Ajax on 8 August 2016 in a Eerste Divisie game against FC Emmen. He played the full game. On 21 September, De Ligt made his debut in the first team of Ajax by playing in a cup game against Willem II, after 25 minutes De Ligt scored out of a corner. this made him the 2nd youngest goalscorer ever behind Clarence Seedorf. Ajax won the game 5–0. On 24 October 2016, Ajax announced through Twitter that De Ligt was promoted to the senior squad.
