Biography
Matthew Grzesiak (Polish: Mateusz Grzesiak; born April 3, 1980, Bialystok) is a Polish psychologist, business consultant and lawyer. He is the author of books on the psychology of success, change, relationships, and emotional intelligence.
Education
Grzesiak graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw (2004) and the Faculty of Psychology at University of Social Sciences and Humanities (2008). He was a scholarship holder at the Rhine Friedrich Wilhelm University in Bonn (2002-2003). He holds a doctoral degree in management (2017).
Business activities
Mateusz Grzesiak's business activity began in 2005. Since 2013, he has held the position of chairman of the board at Starway Ltd. The company offers training products dedicated to individuals as well as business customers.
Mateusz conducts training in Poland and abroad, including Latin America (Mexico, Colombia, Equador, Brazil) and Europe (Italy, Germany, Ireland, England, Ukraine). In 2016, he performed at the Frankfurt Book Fair. He wrote articles for Forbes Brasil and Administradores. Grzesiak also co-hosted conferences and motivational meetings, alongside Robert Cialdini, Anthony Robbins, Robert Kiyosaki, Randy Gage, Jack Canfield and Blair Singer.
Grzesiak is an author of books and articles, and owns an internet TV training channel. In 2015, his book Success and Changewon the Theophrastus prize and was chosen by internet users as the most popular psychology book. The media has called him the most popular psychologist in Poland. Grzesiak appears as an expert on various TV programmes (such as Kawa czy Herbata and Dzień Dobry TVN), radio and press. He works with athletes (i.e. Legia Warsaw footballer - Jakub Rzeźniczak). Grzesiak also appears as a guest in TV programmes abroad. He has his own blog as well as a YouTube channel, where he presents clips concerning personal development and business practices. He conducts a series of interviews and ''Insights''.
Scientific work
In 2017 Grzesiak received a doctoral degree in management from Warsaw School of Economics with a thesis entitled Personal brand creation on YouTube channel in Poland and the USA. He is an author of scientific publications and appeared as a guest on various conferences in Poland and other countries (i.e. in Italy). Grzesiak also lectured in such higher education institutions such as Warsaw School of Economics, University of Dąbrowa Górnicza, University of Szczecin and Oxford University.
Awards
In 2015 his book Success and Change, thanks to internet users' votes, was awarded a Theophrastus Statuette as the most popular book in the field of psychology. Grzesiak also won the Manager Award 2017 for implementation of modern forms of management in Polish business companies, including participatory management and innovative selling strategies in the car and petroleum industries, as well as international, scientific research concerning brand identity building in social media and its marketing implications.
Controversy
Mateusz Grzesiak's work was challenged in terms of wider critics of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). Critical articles about NLP appeared in magazines such as Polityka, Newsweek and Tygodnik Powszechny.
In the article "Misja Mateusza" (Mateusz's Mission), published by Tygodnik Powszechny in June 2015, some coaches claim that Grzesiak gives a bad name to businesses, and is an unusually gifted motivational speaker, rather than a coach or a trainer. He is also criticized for a lack of consistency in his professed views and behaviour, as well as for experimenting on clients. The author points out that Grzesiak is not under clinical supervision. It is also suggested that he covers evidence of previous activities, such as affiliation to NLP.
