Biography
Martin Boudot is a French investigative journalist and documentary filmmaker based in Paris, France. He is part of Premières Lignes Télévision, a TV press agency specialized in investigative journalism. Since 2012, he has been working for Cash Investigation, the award-winning investigative magazine broadcast on France 2, the French national TV news network. He has won the 2015 DIG Award, the European investigative documentary of the year for The real price of your mobile phone. He was among the 2015 and 2017 finalists of the Albert Londres Prize, the highest French journalistic distinction.
Martin Boudot, born in 1985, graduated at the École publique de journalisme de Tours (Tours Public School of Journalism) and specialized in broadcast media at Northern Colorado University.
In 2017, his documentary about covered-up of pedophilia abusers within the Catholic Church (Church : Code of Silence) was aired on March 21st and was viewed by 2,2 million persons. On March 22nd 2017, the French Catholic Church expressed its "profound shame". The investigation also showed the role of Pope Francis in the Julio Grassi case, an Argentinian priest who was sentenced to 15 years prison for sexual abuses on minors. For the first time, Pope Francis was directly asked to answer on the alleged accusations regarding its role in the defense of Julio Grassi.. Thanks to this documentary, Martin Boudot was among the 2017 finalists of the Albert Londres Prize.
In 2016, he directed Toxic Chemicals, Kids in Danger, an hour investigation on the pesticides effects on children's health broadcast on France 2 in the investigative magazine Cash Investigation. 3,1 millions people watched it. The documentary was selected and screened at the One Earth Festival, the We Love Green festivaland received an award at the Deauville Green Awards.
In 2014, his investigative documentary The Real Price of your Mobile Phone broadcast on French public national TV France 2, on November 4th was seen by 3,6 millions people. The documentary was the European investigative documentary of the year at the 2015 DIG Award. Thanks to this documentary, Martin Boudot was among the 2015 finalists of the Albert Londres Prize. The documentary also won "Le Grand Prix Gilles Jacquier" at the Press'tival de Château Gontier.
Martin Boudot also directed "Les Clowns contre-attaquent", a 90 minutes documentary about the power of humor, broadcast on Canal+; Chine : les nouveaux dissidents (China: the New Dissidents) a 52 minutes documentary about chinese artists censored by the authorities ; "Football business : enquête sur une omerta", a 90 minutes documentary about the football industry ; "Marketing Vert : le grand maquillage", a 70 minutes documentary about greenwashing.
As a cameraman, he also was part of the crew of the 2014 film The Yes Men Are Revolting.
