Biography

Mark Lind is a singer/songwriter from Charlestown, Massachusetts. He released his debut studio album Death or Jail in early 2006. Lind is also the front-man and bassist of Boston punk band The Ducky Boys. His most recent solo release, an EP titled Compulsive Fuck Up was released in March 2007. Lind performs in clubs all around New England either solo or with his backing band, the Unloved. The Unloved feature Jason Messina (x - Dirty Water, The Ducky Boys), Mike Savitkas (Death & Taxes), & Jeff Morris (x - The Bruisers, Death & Taxes).

Background

Lind began writing songs during his senior year of high-school after being inspired by bands like Rancid and Green Day. By 1995, Lind and cousin Jason Messina would form The Ducky Boys and within three years, released two albums and grew in popularity in the Boston punk scene with the help of Dropkick Murphys' front-man Ken Casey.

However, by 1999, the band fell into turmoil and soon broke up leaving Lind with no band.

"Dirty Saints"

Soon after The Ducky Boys' downfall, Lind teamed up with his brother Rob Lind of Blood for Blood and began writing music. Focus heavily on song-writing, the two formed the band Sinners and Saints. The band had more musicality and pop elements than The Ducky Boys, a change that gave the band a unique sound. They were offered a record contract with Victory Records for the groups future album The Sky is Falling, but chose to turn it down, a huge mistake they would later admit. The album went on to have huge success and the band grew a huge following by 2002.

Due to personal matters, Rob was unable to continue the project, and the band disbanded by the end of the year. Hoping to get back to his punk roots, Lind would form a Ducky Boy like band called Dirty Water. Re-uniting with Messina, and recruiting The Coroner on guitar and John Davidian on bass, the band would release their self-titled ep Dirty Water in 2003. Like Sinners and Saints, the band was a major success in the Boston area.

All unreleased songs written by Lind during this period of time have been reworked and included on subsequent releases.

Mark announced that he would again be teaming up with brother Rob for new Sinners and Saints album and "Back From the Land of Nod" was released in May 2015. The band played a reunion show at The Middle East downstairs with Death & Taxes and The Old Edison reuniting as well, and Boston locals Nick and The Adversaries opening the show.

The Ducky Boys Re-Form

The Ducky Boys re-formed plus guitarist Douglas Sullivan in late 2003 and has recorded and released two albums, entitled Three Chords and the Truth and The War Back Home . Both albums were critically acclaimed and had big sales. The band has since grown in popularity and has toured with bands like Rancid, Street Dogs, and Dropkick Murphys in recent years.

Solo work

During 2005, Lind set out to make his first solo album. Using leftover songs that were not used in The War Back Home, Lind recorded the CD and released it in 2006. The album features a rock style with a band accompanying Lind in most songs.

Over the last year, Lind has written and demoed over 50 songs for both the new Ducky Boys album and for a new solo EP, titled Compulsive Fuck Up. The album, released on March 27, 2007, features six brand new songs as well as a bonus track featuring a live solo performance. The album was released solely on Interpunk.com and is currently ranked #8 in sales on the site. [1]

Lind also played bass on Boston punk band Far From Finished's debut album East Side of Nowhere and appeared on the band's second album Living in the Fallout.

From here, Mark Lind has teamed up with the Unloved, which includes members of the Ducky Boys, including Messina, and past projects. With the Unloved, Lind released The Truth Can Be Brutal(2007) as well as Homeward Bound(2009). Lind continues to play in his hometown and the surrounding areas with many acts, including Bryan McPherson, who will be doing a second tour with Dropkick Murphys in late 2014.
