Biography

Marjorie Wilson (also known as B. Marjorie Wilson) (born 1951) is an English geologist and petrologist known for her work on the origin of igneous rocks. Her most significant book is Igneous Petrogenesis: A Global Tectonic Approach, published in 1989. The book was reprinted in 2007. At present she is executive editor of the Journal of Petrology, a position she has held since 1994.
Dr. Wilson started her post secondary schooling by graduating with a BA degree in Geology from University of Oxford in 1973. Her education continued at the University of California, Berkeley in 1974 for a master's degree and concluded in 1976 with a PhD in Geology from the University of Leeds.
Following her graduation Dr. Wilson was granted a fellowship to research with the NERC (Natural Environment Research Council). Dr. Wilson finished the fellowship in 1978 and continued with the NERC Council later on. In 2013 Dr. Wilson was given a faculty position at the University of Leeds.
