Biography

Manos Manouselis (Born in April 27, 1964) is a Greek basketball head coach of the AL SADD BASKETBALL CLUB in Qatar. He has been actively involved in professional basketball for more than three decades.

Coaching career

Manouselis began his career at the very early age of 20 and has been coaching professionally ever since, working for clubs and, since 2004, the Greek National Basketball Team (NBT).

He has won the silver medal at the Men U21 2005 World Championship (Argentina) and the bronze medal at the Men U16 2013 European Championship (Kiev, Ukraine) as Head Coach of the respective Greek NBTs.

Manos served as the Assistant Coach of Olympiakos BC (working with the world basketball coach and basket player Panagiotis Giannakis), where he was responsible for planning and running daily training sessions and headed the scouting team. During his tenure, Olympiakos reached the EuroLeauge Final once and won the 2010 Greek Cup.

He held Head Coach positions for a number of historic teams in both the Men’s and Women’s professional leagues in Greece, including Panellinios (1999-2005) which he guided back to Greek Division A1 from Division C and Sporting B.C. (1992-1997).

As Head Coach for the Greek National Basketball Federation, he has an instrumental role in the development of some of the best European basketball talents, which he helps to move on to the highest professional level.

For seven years (2010-2017) he was also Director of the Proteas Basketball Academy, one of the premier Greek basketball schools, where more than 600 kids from 5 to 18 years old learn the game’s secrets. Meanwhile, Manouselis was the Euroleague’s technical analyst for the Greek Cable TV Network “NOVA SPORTS” (2012- 2017).

Manouselis is renowned in Greek professional basketball circles for his ability to turn teams around to qualify for the next higher division (or level) of competition within the league, as is underscored by being honoured as an 11-Time League Coach of the Year Award winner.

On March 2017 he joined one of the largest sports organizations in the Middle East, Qatar’s AL SADD, he currently serves as the Head Coach of the Basketball Team and remains member of the Greek NBT’s Coaching Staff.
