Biography

Luther B. Way (September 26, 1879 – October 23, 1943) was a United States federal judge.

Born in Alamance County, North Carolina, Way graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1907. He was a Private practice from 1907 to 1922. He was a Special assistant United States Attorney of the U.S. Department of Justice in 1922. He was in private practice in Norfolk, Virginia from 1923 to 1931.

On February 21, 1931, Way was nominated by President Herbert Hoover to a seat on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia vacated by D. Lawrence Groner. Way was confirmed by the United States Senate on March 2, 1931, and received his commission on March 4, 1931. He served in that capacity until his death, in 1943, in Norfolk.
