Career
Mejia was in private practice at the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld until 1999 when he joined the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Since then he has been involved in many important investigations, including the investigation of AOL Time Warner, successfully prosecuting Evergreen Media Chief Officer Scott K. Ginsburg on insider trading, and as well as prosecuting sports agent William H. Black on insider trading as well. Mejia also led the litigation counsel in the SEC's Enron Investigation. Mejia was named the Chief of the Litigation Counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in 2005.
