Biography

Lucius Bruttius Quintius Crispinus was a Roman who lived in the second century AD. His father was Gaius Bruttius Praesens, consul under Antoninus Pius. Crispinus' paternal grandparents were the consul and senator Gaius Bruttius Praesens, and Laberia Hostilia Crispina, daughter of Manius Laberius Maximus, who had also held the consulship on two occasions. His father’s family originally came from Volceii, Lucania, Italy and were closely associated with the Roman Emperors Trajan, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius, and Marcus Aurelius. Crispinus was born and raised in Rome or Volceii. His sister, was Roman Empress Bruttia Crispina (164–193) who married the Roman Emperor Commodus. Crispinus was consul in 187 and through him the Bruttius blood line continued.
