Biography

Luca Masso (born 17 July 1994) is a Belgian-born Argentine male field hockey and part of the Argentina men's national field hockey team, known as Los Leones (The Lions), including at the 2014–15 Men's FIH Hockey World League Final and the 2016 Summer Olympics, in which he became a gold medalist. He is a former member of the Belgian under-21 team, which he competed at the 2013 Men's Hockey Junior World Cup. On club level he plays for Waterloo Ducks HC in Belgium.
He was a reserve player for Argentina at the 2016 Olympic Games. After two of his teammates were injured during the tournament and went out the squad, Masso was included as a replacement. He played the final match against Belgium, his country of birth.

Personal life

Masso is the son of former Argentine tennis professional Eduardo Masso and Sabrina Merckx, the daughter of Eddy Merckx, the world's most successful cyclist.
