Biography

London Hudson (born 28 August 2002) is an American rock drummer and musician. Son of Guns N' Roses guitarist, Slash, London Hudson is a drummer for Los Angeles-based rock band, Classless Act.

Early life

London Hudson was born London Emilio Hudson on 28 August 2002 in Los Angeles, California, to Guns N' Roses guitarist, Slash and his second ex-wife, Perla Ferrar Hudson. He has a younger brother, Cash Anthony Hudson (born June 23, 2004,) who is also a musician.

His father is of African-American and English descent and his mother is of Indigenous Mexican, Mexican, Cherokee Native American, Portuguese, Welsh, German, and Irish descent.

London Hudson, was conceived at the house of Rolling Stone's Ronnie Wood, who was close friends with Slash.

Music career

Coming from a musical family, London, as well as his brother Cash, was naturally inclined towards rock and metal music. He started playing bass at an early age, when he was in the 5th grade. After playing bass for a year or so, he went to a Guitar Center with his father and played drums at the store. He really liked playing the drums and decided to leave the guitar.

The GNR stuff is when it really clicked, going on that tour. But it never really hit me until this summer, where I was like, I don't want to live in his shadow, when I started playing in the band. That's the main reason I don't play guitar, or stringed instruments.

Classless Act

In 2016, Hudson founded the rock band Classless Act with his childhood friend Nico Tsangaris. Hudson, who was 15 at the time, had known Nico since 2007 when Nico's mother was working as the make-up artist for Hudson's mother, Perla Hudson

Hudson is the drummer and Nico is the lead guitarist for the band. The band was later joined by Derek Day, as the lead vocalist; Dane Pieper as the rhythm guitarist; and Franco Gravante as the bassist. The band cites Led Zeppelin, Queen, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Motörhead, and, of course, Guns N' Roses, as their influence.

The band name and Donald Trump

On the reason for calling their band Classless Act, Nico in an interview said:

I remembered Donald Trump being called a classless act, and I immediately thought, 'That would be a great band name'...It fits the sound. It's hard and heavy rock 'n' roll that incorporates many flavors from different styles of music.

Live performances

Classless Act's first live performance was in May 2018 at "Ride for Ronnie," a tribute concert to honor Ronnie James Dio at Los Encinos State Historic Park. The band played a cover of Black Sabbath's The Mob Rules. Hudson said about their chosen song:

We just thought it'd be cool to do. And for it to be a Sabbath song too. It just worked and it fits our style too...I love the riff and the drumming is just so hard.

The other performers at the concert were: Steven Adler's All Star Band, Michael Devin (Whitesnake,) Lita Ford, Robert Sarzo (Hurricane,) Alex Grossi (Quiet Riot,) Patrick Stone (Budderside,) and Jeff Pilson (Dokken and former Dio guitarist.)

On 16 October 2018, Classless Act opened for "Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators" concert at The Palladium in Hollywood, California.
