In the 2008 season, Lim became the closer of the Giants. During the season, however, he never overwhelmed hitters as a closer, struggling to save his team's win in the leading situation being able to earn a save. Due to his "dramatic" closing games, Giants fans started to call him the notorious nickname, Lim jakka (Author Lim).
