Biography
Lilla Georgine Hansen (1 April 1872 - 11 June 1962) was Norway's first female architect. After studying at the Royal Drafting School (Den Kongelige Tegneskole) in Kristiania (1894) and serving architectural apprenticeships in Brussels, Kristiania and Copenhagen, she established her own practice in 1912. After her breakthrough the same year with Heftyeterrassen, a Neo-baroque residential complex in Oslo, she went on to design a number of large villas as well as a hospital and student accommodation for women.
