Li Yitong (Chinese: 李一桐, born 6 September 1990) is a Chinese actress. She made her acting debut in 2016 with a leading role in the web series Demon Girl by Yu Zheng. In 2017, she played Huang Rong in the television adaptation of Jin Yong's wuxia (武侠) novel Legend of the Condor Heroes and rose to fame in China.
Early life and education
Li Yitong started dancing when she was almost 10 by taking amateur-level classes. Under the recommendation of a teacher, Li later applied and was admitted to the Shenzhen Art School at the age of 12. She received her bachelor degree from the Beijing Dance Academy, majoring in folk dance. Prior to becoming an actress, Li wanted to start a business of tea house into which she could merge elements of dance performance.
Career
After spending a few years in dance industry, Li decided to pursue a career in acting and got the opportunity to make her television debut in the web series Demon Girl in 2016, playing the leading role Nie Qingcheng. In the highly successful remake of the classic drama The Legend of the Condor Heroes in 2017, Li played the main character Huang Rong, costarring Yang Xuwen and Michael Miu, and earned herself the nickname "Tong Rong'er" among the audiences. Both the TV series and her performance gained wide recognition and accolades in China and overseas. Also in 2017, Li released her first single.
