Leonid Bershidsky

Leonid Davidovich Bershidsky (Rus: Леонид Давидович Бершидский; born November 23, 1971, Moscow, USSR) is a journalist and the former editorial director of "Eksmo" Agency of Bloomberg magazine. From 2009 to 2011, he was the editor in chief of the website Slon.ru. Since 2011, he has been the consultant editor of Media Group Ukraine. Since 2012, has been the chief editor of the Ukrainian edition of the portal Forbes.ua.

Leonid Bershidsky studied but did not finish at the Moscow State Linguistic University, the University of California. He spent a year in France on his MBA in business from INSEAD in Fontainebleau.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he worked at the The Philadelphia Inquirer, Newsweek, The Moscow Times, and was the chief editor of "Capital" weekly. From 1999 to 2002, he was the first editor in chief of the newspaper Vedomosti.

In 2007, at the invitation of businessman Alexander Vinokourov, Bershidsky went into business as the managing director of "KIT Finance" bank and later as general director of "KIT Finance" investment banking holding. In 2009, Bershidsky became a co-owner and chief editor of the business website Slon.ru. In 2010 he was appointed editorial director of Eksmo publishing house. He became the author of several novels in the genre of art-detective: "Rembrandt must die" (2011), "Devil's Trill, or test Stradivari" (2011), "Eight Faberge" (2012).

In 2011, Bershidsky retired from Slon.ru and began working in the Ukrainian magazine consultant project "Focus." In 2012, the edited the Ukrainian web portal “Forbes.UA."

In 2014 after the Russian annexation of Crimea, Bershidsky announced his immigration to Germany. He lives in Berlin and works as a columnist for Bloomberg News.

Bershidsky is Jewish.
