LeDania
Quick Facts
Biography
Diana Ordóñez, also known as LeDania, is a Colombian artist who works primarily in the city of Bogotá. She specializes in street art, however, she also works with graphic design, artistic makeup, and photography. Known for her colorful murals which are specifically not laden with political or religious symbolism, LeDania's work often deals with themes of positivity and vibrancy. In addition to this, LeDania often incorporates subtle symbolism of the mythological or magical. This mythical symbolism is underscored by the construction of the name "LeDania" itself and the artist's signature. "LeDania" is an amalgamation of the mythological Greek name of Leda and LeDania's first name Diana. In this same vein, LeDania's signature is always next to an image of a bird, which is referring to the seduction of Zeus seducing Leda in the form of a swan in the Greek myth.
Notable Works
In 2016, LeDania collaborated with the Spanish artist Prez, in order to construct a large street mural in Bogota. The work was commissioned by Reebok, and was divided into 680 different pieces which were individually sold. LeDania had this to say about the piece:
Generally we in the street do ephemeral works, which are finished, damaged or leaked, and usually there is a photograph, but in this case, those who acquire the new collection, at least the first 680 people, will take part of it to their homes." (translated from Spanish)
