Biography

Larry Cross (December 25, 1913—June 29, 1976) was a Canadian film and television actor. Active from the mid-1950s up until his death in 1976, he was seen in supporting roles in 60 films and television series, mostly in the United Kingdom.

Life and career

Larry Cross was born Russell Beurling Titus in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, on December 25, 1913. 

Cross was married to Canadian cartoonist Doris Slater (1917—1964) from 1944 to 1950. After the divorce, he moved to London to pursue a career in acting and made his debut in 1954 in the British TV movie I'll Be Seeing You alongside Hermione Baddeley and Claude Hulbert. The following year, he was seen in the episode "The Lover's Knot" (aired 27 April 1955) of the TV series Patrol Car with Bruce Seton and Martin Boddey.

In 1956, Cross played "Mr. Wilberforce" in John Haggarty's sci-fi Raiders of the River, starring Richard O'Sullivan and Jenny Jones.

In 1958, he was seen as "Brad Somers" in Montgomery Tully and David Paltenghi's horror flick The Electronic Monster starring Rod Cameron, Mary Murphy, Meredith Edwards, Peter Illing, and Carl Jaffe.

In 1967, Cross was seen in Montgomery Tully's Battle Beneath the Earth, Samuel Gallu's The Man Outside, and Charlie Chaplin's A Countess from Hong Kong.

After a few episodic roles in various TV series, Cross portrayed a poker player in Lionel Jeffries' drama Baxter! starring Patricia Neal, Jean-Pierre Cassel, Britt Ekland, Lynn Carlin, and Scott Jacoby.

His last screen appearance was in 1976 as a newscaster in the episode "The Story of a Panic" (aired 5 March 1976) of the TV series Hadleigh starring Anthony Higgins, Gerald Harper, Ambrosine Phillpotts, Peter Dennis, and Richard Vernon.

Personal life

From 1944 to 1950, Cross was married to Canadian cartoonist Doris Slater (1917—1964). They had a son, Robin (born 13 November 1946), and a daughter, Patricia (born 1949.)

Death

Cross died in London, United Kingdom, on June 29, 1976, at age 62.
