Kadie Lynn Roberson (born 29 September 2003) is an American country singer and songwriter. She rose to national fame in September 2016 after her performance on Season 11 of America’s Got Talent.

Early life

Roberson was born on 29 September 2003 in Kemp, Texas. She was adopted at a young age by Deborah and Darrell Roberson. Her parents, who adopted her when they were in their 50s, have been very supportive of her singing.

Kadie began singing when she was three. Her parents first noticed her talent when she sang four verse of "Amazing Grace"  from memory at Tolosa Baptist Church in Kemp, Texas. Kadie continued to practice her singing and songwriting with support from her parents. She cites Willie Nelson, Reba McEntire, Billie Joe Armstrong, and Benjamin Burnley as her favorite singers.

Singing career

In 2013, she opened for American rapper Vanilla Ice at a music show in Gun Barrel City, Texas. She has also opened for Kevin Fowler, and once even sang for the Prime Minister of the Bahamas.

In November 2013, she launched her YouTube channel, Kadie Lynn.

In January 2016, she released her first single "Stronger," which was written by herself.

In the summer of 2016, she entered Season 11 of America's Got Talent television show. For the audition, she sang Merle Haggard's "Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Star." For Judge Cuts 2 in July, she sang Miranda Lambert’s "Mama’s Broken Heart," and had the guest judge, country-singer Reba McEntire, floored by her performance. Next, in August, she sang Maren Morris's "My Church," for which she won "Judges' Choice," scoring a Yes from Simon Cowell and Heidi Klum.

For the semi-finals in September, she performed Lee Ann Womack's song from 2000, "I Hope You Dance."  It was loved by all judges, however the viewers voted in favor of other contestants. Singer Grace VanderWaal was announced the winner; the band The Clairvoyants (Thommy Ten and Amélie van Tass) the runner-up; and Jon Dorenbos, Brian Justin Crum, and Sal Valentinetti took third, fourth and fifth place, respectively.
