Biography
Julia Liuson (潘正磊, born in Shanghai, China) is the Corporate Vice President of Visual Studio at Microsoft Corporation. She oversees business and software development for Visual Studio and .Net framework, (except Visual Studio Team Services), including Visual Studio Code, all programming languages, user interface, team development/testing tools and platform adoption tools. In an interview with eWEEK, Liuson said Microsoft is working to help all developers (all platforms and all languages) be successful with tools that enable innovative scenarios. Liuson is an inspiration for women in technology and she has set a good example to attract and promote women in STEM by proactively asking for what you need personally in order to do a great job professionally
Liuson presented keynote speeches and guest speakers in some key business and technology events including Connect() 2015, China Business Challenge 2014, Technet 2013 for China.
Prior to that, Liuson has held a variety of technical and management positions while at Microsoft. She was General Manager of Visual Studio Business Application where she was responsible for enabling developers to easily build business applications on Microsoft server and service platforms. Previously, Liuson has served as development manager, and later Partner Product Unit Manager for Visual Basic.
Liuson has also served as General Manager for Server and Tools business from Microsoft Shanghai office in China for two years while running engineering teams on both sides of the Pacific Ocean.
In 1991, Julia received a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Washington. She joined Microsoft right after graduation.
Julia lives in the Seattle area. She and her husband have one son Harry.
