Early life

Juan Pablo Martínez-Zurita Arellano was born on March 29, 1996, in Mexico City, Mexico, to Fernando Martínez Zurita and Teresa Arellano. He has two brothers and one sister: Fernando Zurita, Andres Zurita and Paola Zurita (Paola and Andres are bloggers too).

He grew up in Mexico City before his family settled down in Washington D.C. during his youth. He now lives in Los Angeles. He posted his first Vine on June 11, 2013, which was named "That dog killed chuck norris and was after me." This first short video featuring his dog, Puca, was seen thousands of times in a few days. His subsequent Vines were often created with his brother, Andres (a.k.a. Andy), and his friend, Jérôme Jarre.

Videos

Juanpa Zurita creates videos in both Spanish and English. So, his first Vine account attracted followers from around the world. When Vine shut down 2017, he had over 1.8 millions followers.

Since then, Juanpa Zurita has collected all of his videos on YouTube. Though his YouTube videos are almost exclusively in Spanish, the web star has added up more than 6 millions followers on his two accounts. His most popular YouTube video, "Pontelo o Cometelo Challenge" has been seen by more than 9 millions people.

With 12 millions followers on his main account and 3 millions on his second one, Instagram is the social network where Juanpa Zurita is the most popular. He often posts pictures and videos about his everyday life, professional experiences, and travels. As a result of his popularity, he was on the front cover of GQ Italia (July-August 2017) with Luka Sabbat, Austin Mahone and Rafferty Law.

Modeling

On October, 2016, Juanpa Zurita postured to promote Calvin Klein underwear.

In January, 2017, he was one of the Millennials who modeled for Dolce & Gabbana during the Fashion Week in Milan, Italy by Cameron Dallas, Diggy Simmons, Austin Mahone and Lucky Blue Smith's sides.

In July, 2017, he postured for Vogue Mexico by Mariana Zaragoza's side.

Other activities

In March, 2017, Juanpa Zurita, Chakabars, Jérôme Jarre, Casey Neistat and Ben Stiller campaigned against famine in Somalia. The movement, called Love Army For Somalia, has collected more than 1.8 million dollars in few days. In May, Juanpa Zurita went to Somalia, with a plane lent by Turkish Airlines, in order to distribute the food bought with the money collected by the Love Army, to Somalian families.

Juanpa Zurita and Lele Pons, hosted the ceremony of the 2017 MTV Millennial Awards, that were held on June 3, 2017 at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, and was broadcast on June 4, 2017 through MTV Latin America. During the ceremony, he was also designated as the Digital Icon of the Year.

Juanpa Zurita lives in Los Angeles, California, in the same apartment block as the webstar Mario Ruiz, who he sometimes works with, to make humoristics videos.
