Biography
Jonathan L. Walton is an American theologian, currently the Plummer Professor of Christian Morals and Pusey Minister in the Memorial Church at Harvard University.
Walton attended Morehouse College, then earned a Master's and Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary. He taught religious studies at the University of California Riverside, then became a tenured professor at Harvard Divinity School. In 2012 he was appointed Plummer Professor of Christian Morals and Pusey Minister at Harvard's Memorial Church after the death of Reverend Peter J. Gomes, who had held the position for more than four decades. Walton assumed the position on July 1, 2012, in addition to remaining on the faculty of the Divinity School.
Walton is the author of Watch This! The Ethics and Aesthetics of Black Televangelists (New York University Press, 2009).
