John Cazale

John Cazale was an American actor best known for his roles in the films of Francis Ford Coppola and Sidney Lumet, including The Godfather and Dog Day Afternoon.

John Cazale appeared in a total of five feature films, all of which were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. These films include The Godfather, The Godfather Part II, The Conversation, Dog Day Afternoon, and The Deer Hunter.

Although John Cazale did not win any individual awards during his career, all five films he appeared in were nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. He was also posthumously nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his role in Dog Day Afternoon.

John Cazale and Meryl Streep were in a relationship from 1976 until his death in 1978. They met while working together on the play "Measure for Measure" and later starred in the film "The Deer Hunter" together.

John Cazale died on March 12, 1978, at the age of 42, due to lung cancer. Despite his illness, he continued to work on his final film, The Deer Hunter, until he was physically unable to do so.
