John Wilfred Bosa (born January 10, 1964) is a former professional American football defensive end who played three seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the Miami Dolphins.He played football for Keene High School in Keene, New Hampshire and received a full athletic scholarship to play football for the Boston College Eagles.
His elder son, Joey Bosa, played college football at Ohio State University and was selected third overall in the 2016 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. His younger son, Nick Bosa, also played college football at Ohio State and was selected second overall in the 2019 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Joey and Nick both wear number 97, the same number their father wore. The Bosas are the second family to hold the distinction of having three family members be drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft. Archie, Peyton, and Eli Manning are the first to achieve this feat.
In 1987, John was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the first round (16th) of the NFL draft. John's ex-wife, Cheryl Kumerow, is the sister of former Dolphins teammate, and Ohio State standout, Eric Kumerow.
