Biography
Jens Bargmann was born and raised in Lübeck, Germany. He is a graduate of the German Luftwaffe Academy; the University of the German Federal Armed Forces where he earned a master's degree in Education; and the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, where he earned the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Ethics and Philosophy.
Father Bargmann served as an officer in the German Air Force and served on the faculty of the United States Naval Academy, where he compared the ethics of the United States Navy with that of the German Navy. He earned the degree of Master of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; and was ordained a Pastor by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in 2005. After serving as an ELCA Pastor, in 2008, Jens Bargmann was ordained in the historic apostolic succession as a deacon and priest and became the Pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, a parish of the Anglo-Lutheran Catholic Church (ALCC).
Father Bargmann is a Teutonic Knight of the Order of Saint Mary of Jerusalem (Teutonic Order) of the House of Antioch and Swabia; and is its Grand Prior for the United States of America. The Teutonic Order has awarded Fr. Bargmann the Knight Grand Cross of Justice.
In 2013, Father Bargmann entered the Catholic Church in "lay communion" working to be accepted for re-ordination as a Catholic priest under the Catholic Church's Pastoral Provision.
