Biography

Lieutenant (later General) Jean Charles Romatet began his military career during World War I with the French Army in October 1912, but transferred to the French Air Services in 1916 to go on to become a flying ace credited with seven confirmed victories (4 victories with Escadrille Spa76 and 3 victories with Escadrille Spa165).
Romatet rose to the rank of General during World War II. and served as head of the Vichy French Air Force from 1940 to 1942.
He died in 1975.
