Biography
Anthony James Gatward (born 4 March 1938) is a British former television producer, and television network executive.
Early life
He attended Sir George Gascoigne School on Queen's Road in east London, a secondary modern school, now the site of Edinburgh Primary School. He studied drama at South West Essex Technical College and School of Art.
Career
Television production
He entered the TV industry in 1957. From 1966-70 he worked as a television producer for the BBC and ITV. He produced children's drama series.
Television South
From 1979-80 he led the preparations for the contracts for ITV franchises for regional television in South and South East England, which was awarded to his franchise Television South (TVS). TVS, later run by TVS Entertainment plc, ran the franchise from January 1982.
ITV Meridian have ran the ITV South franchise from 1 January 1993. TVS ran for 11 years.
Personal life
He married the actress Isobel Black in 1969. They have three daughters. He lives in Portsmouth.
