Hernán Zin

Hernán Zin (born 1971) is a war correspondent, writer and documentary director of Italian-argentinian origin based in Madrid, Spain.

Since 1994 he has been traveling around the globe writing books, articles and directing documentary films. He has worked in more than 80 countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. War, poverty and human rights are the main subjects of his work.

His last four documentary films have been premiered by Netflix worldwide.

• Born in Syria (2016) Documentary film that follows 7 children in their trip from Syria to Europe. Directed, produced, written and filmed by Hernán Zin.
• 10 Years with Bebe (2016) Documentary film about the life of Bebe, seven times Grammy Nominee. Directed, produced, written and filmed by Hernán Zin. Coproduced with Movistar Plus. Nominated to the Latin Grammy.
• Matadoras (2015) Documentary about the female bullfighter that defied Franco’s dictatorship in order to bullfight.Directed, produced and filmed by Hernán Zin. Coproduced with TVE.
• 10 Elephants (2015) Short documentary about poaching in Africa. Directed, produced and filmed by Hernán Zin.
• Born in Gaza (2014) Documentary film that follows ten children telling their daily life under the bombs during the Israeli offensive that devastated the Gaza Strip in July and August 2014. Nominated to Spanish Academy Awards and Platino Awards. Winner of the Jury Prize at the Al Jazeera Festival 2015. Premiered in London, Rome and Toronto. Directed, produced, written and filmed by Hernán Zin. Coproduced with Canal Plus and La Claqueta.
• War Against Women (2013) Three years filming in ten different countries have been required to make this documentary film, the most ambitious documentary ever filmed about the use of rape as a weapon of war. Directed, produced and written by Hernán Zin. Coproduced with TVE and Island Bound.
